Michael Wolff, the author of Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, published a column in the Hollywood Reporter this morning in which he recounts the early days of the Trump administration. An excerpt:

“You can’t make this shit up,” Sean Spicer, soon to be portrayed as the most hapless man in America, muttered to himself after his tortured press briefing on the first day of the new administration, when he was called to justify the president’s inaugural crowd numbers — and soon enough, he adopted this as a personal mantra.

Reince Priebus, the new chief of staff, had, shortly after the announcement of his appointment in November, started to think he would not last until the inauguration. Then, making it to the White House, he hoped he could last a respectable year, but he quickly scaled back his goal to six months.

Kellyanne Conway, who would put a finger-gun to her head in private about Trump’s public comments, continued to mount an implacable defense on cable television, until she was pulled off the air by others in the White House who, however much the president enjoyed her, found her militancy idiotic. (Even Ivanka and Jared regarded Conway’s fulsome defenses as cringeworthy.)

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said “nobody here” talks about Hillary Clinton just hours after her boss, President Trump, repeatedly brought up his 2016 opponent earlier in the day. “We don’t care about her. Nobody here talks about Hillary Clinton,” Conway told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday while accusing the network of being stuck on the 2016 election in its coverage of the investigations into Russian interference.

Kellyanne Conway said Monday that President Trump is not making demands for a border wall as part of negotiations on the funding measure.

“The president has not injected the wall into the continuing resolution,” said Mrs. Conway, counselor to the president. “That will come after the continuing resolution is passed.”

Mrs. Conway said the president would like to see Congress pass a temporary spending bill that allows the government to reopen prior to continuing the immigration debate. She said the two issues should remain separate.

“The president is open to negotiating on immigration and getting a bill passed after the Democrats reopen the government. They shutdown the government for an unrelated issue and this is on them,” she said.

As you’ll see below, Conway goes on to repeat the lie that Democrats have blocked paychecks for the US military.

Despite rumors that the bureau’s director, Christopher Wray, might step down as a result, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway did not appear concerned on Friday during an appearance on Fox & Friends. “The president has not expressed that concern at all,” Conway said in answer to a question about Wray’s possible departure.

“I want to remind everyone of a couple things because I see people lying about this. The president has stated many times that he respects the rank and file of the FBI,” Conway went on. White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said on Sunday that President Trump has full confidence in chief of staff John Kelly amid the fallout from abuse allegations against former staff secretary Rob Porter.

“I spoke with the president last night about this very issue and he wanted me to reemphasize to everyone, including this morning that he has full confidence in his current chief of staff General John Kelly and that he is not actively searching for replacements,” Conway told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “This Week.”

Conway on Sunday also defended the president’s treatment of women in the White House. “Why would someone like me and other women work there?” Conway asked.

Kellyanne Conway, one of President Donald Trump’s top advisers, violated federal law in two televised interviews last year by using her White House position to weigh in on a political race, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel said on Tuesday.

In the interviews, one on Fox News Channel on Nov. 20 and another on Dec. 6 on CNN, Conway “impermissibly mixed official government business with political views about candidates in the Alabama special election,” the independent investigative agency said in a report it submitted to Trump for “appropriate disciplinary action.”

CNBC reports:

The office, which has submitted the report to Trump “for appropriate disciplinary action,” said it gave Conway the opportunity to respond to the allegations, but she did not respond.

“While the Hatch Act allows federal employees to express their views about candidates and political issues as private citizens, it restricts employees from using their official government positions for partisan political purposes, including by trying to influence partisan elections,” the report says.

“In passing this law, Congress intended to promote public confidence in the Executive branch by ensuring the federal government is working for all Americans without regard to their political views.”

“Kellyanne Conway did not advocate for or against the election of any particular candidate,” the White House statement, attributed to deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley, says. “She simply expressed the President’s obvious position that he have [sic] people in the House and Senate who support his agenda.”

In an Orwellian twist, the statement concludes by asserting that Conway’s violation of the Hatch Act illustrates her desire to comply with the Hatch Act.

But White House’s claim that Conway “did not advocate” for the election of Moore — who was defeated by Democrat Doug Jones after numerous women came forward to accuse him of sexual assault, including child molestation — is absurd. During a Fox & Friends appearance in November, she told viewers, “Doug Jones in Alabama? Folks, don’t be fooled.”

As you’ll see in the clip below, Conway vigorously urged Alabama voters to turn out for Roy Moore, just as she later did during a CNN appearance after being warned by the US Office of Special Counsel.

Kellyanne Conway said Thursday she had spoken to President Donald Trump about a watchdog report that found her past remarks on the Alabama special election to be in violation of federal law, but the counselor to the president declined to say whether she would face disciplinary action over the ethics breach. “The president and I have spoken about this,” Conway said when asked about the report on Fox News. “I have not made a comment on this at all and I won’t today.”

Conway added that she “won’t reveal” the details of “private conversations” between herself and the president. Pressed on whether that meant the White House would not impose disciplinary actions against her, Conway again dodged. “I didn’t say that,” she said. “I also recognize every day, maybe I’m still there and will continue to be, I’m not there to read about myself. I’m not there to talk about me and I’m there to the service of the country that I love.”

The husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway responded to President Trump on Twitter after Trump tweeted that “attorney client privilege is dead” following a raid on the offices of his lawyer, Michael Cohen. George Conway retweeted the message Tuesday morning from the president and included a link to the Justice Department’s website explaining why Cohen’s offices were not protected from a Monday no-knock FBI raid by attorney-client privilege.

Fox & Friends played a clip of Comey asking “what kind of marriage” the president has with wife Melania, given the impression he got from Trump that she might believe the salacious allegations. “He’s a psychoanalyst, he’s giving advice on how people look, he’s a marriage counselor,” Conway said sarcastically. “I find that particular excerpt to be really egregious and over the top and unacceptable. Frankly put, that’s none of his business,” she added.

Kellyanne Conway appeared on Good Morning America Monday, and took a grilling from George Stephanopoulos over her objections to James Comey’s 20/20 interview. Conway started off by trashing the former FBI director, who was fired by Trump last year, for discussing the size of the president’s hands and the length of his tie. “That’s really gutter,” Conway lamented.

Conway went on to allege that Comey “admitted” in a Senate testimony that Trump did not ask him to drop the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, but Stephanopoulos interjected.

“Kellyanne, I have to stop you there, because that’s not correct either,” Stephanopoulos said, pointing out Comey said no one at the Justice Department asked him to drop the investigation. “He was not asked about the president,” the ABC News anchor said, explaining that Comey has consistently maintained he felt Trump was trying to direct him to end the investigation.

This morning Propaganda Minister Kellyanne Conway pretended to be outraged when asked about her husband’s critical tweets about Glorious Leader, some of which have since been deleted. Conway accused CNN host Dana Bash of only asking about the tweets because she’s a woman.

Mediaite reports:

Conway got in a dig at Hillary Clinton before saying, “It’s fascinating to me that CNN would go there, but it’s very good for the whole world to have just witnessed that it’s now fair game how people’s spouses and significant others may differ with them. That should really be fun.”

Bash said she would have asked that question too if she were a man. Conway shot back, “No you wouldn’t.”

She told Bash the question was “meant to harass and embarrass,” emphasizing that spouses have differences of opinion a lot of the time. Conway repeatedly emphasized how interesting it was that CNN would go there, calling this a “crossing the Rubicon moment.”
